We at BlogPAC.com do our best to represent the progressive blogosphere. Of course, not everyone is going to agree with our conception of what it means to represent something as big and multi-faceted as "the progressive blogosphere," but each of us are as deeply invested and embedded in online politics as we can be.
Something we've identified as a constant irritant is our collective inability to get our message picked up by the old media.
Well, when SaysMe.TV came along, we didn't waste any time wringing our hands over whether or not we should use the tool. I personally contacted their CEO, created an ad and contracted to run it in Minneapolis during the RNC.
Kestrel9000 does the narrating.
This is our press release:

518 xxx xxxxLike George W. Bush in 2000 and beyond, John McCain has proven himself to be opportunistic, mendacious and willing to say or do anything to be elected. The old media, ever the eager lapdog to the conservative status quo, has decided to play along.
While John McCain's surrogates make specious assertions regarding Barack Obama's character, patriotism and associations, the legacy media has simply shrugged. Suckling the saccharin nectar of false bipartisan civility, the mass-media consensus seems to be that such attacks are okay, as long as they are made by a conservative Republican. Even hints of attacks in the other direction, such as those made by General Wesley Clark two months ago, result in several news cycles filled with concerned caterwauling and grave, grave concern.
The principals at BlogPAC, like many in the netroots, are sick and tired of honorable Democrats being smeared by the extremist right and their handmaidens in the old media. We are not content defending our candidates when there is so much work to be done on offense. BlogPAC will not sit on the sidelines this election cycle.
This advertisement marks our first effort at doing the job Barack Obama, allied Democrats, and the media should be doing: providing a complete picture of John McCain.
Let it be known: we are here and we are playing for keeps. This is merely the first advertisement of a series. The old media, for much to long, has ignored much too much of John McCain's repugnant record. BlogPAC.com will not play along.
There is a lot left to tell about this story... BEginning with the fact that you can help us pay for these ads by visiting BlogPAC.com and donating... Or... you can pay to run this ad yourself by visiting SaysMe.tv, selecting our ad, and choosing your market, station and time.
Finally... As the press release says, this is merely the first in a series of ads we'll produce. We will be working with a pretty famous graphic design artist that y'all almost certainly have heard of; he's going to create or next ads.
I look forward to making the announcement soon.
